The Gays Mills Public Library will be sponsoring a Gingerbread House Decorating Workshop at the new Gays Mills Community Commerce Center on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. People ages six to adult are invited to attend this free workshop where you learn to frost and decorate a homemade gingerbread house.

The library provides the houses and frosting and participants provide the candy and imagination to turn their plain brown gingerbread houses into enchanting candy houses. If you have never done this before, it promises to be great fun.

The kinds of candies that work best for decorating are lightweight. Candies such as spice drops, licorice ropes, peppermints, red hots work well for this project. However cereal, pretzels, and crackers can also be used to great effect.

Registration is required for this event since the houses take some time to construct. Register for the Gingerbread House Decorating Workshop by Monday, Dec. 10 by calling the Gays Mills Public Library at 608-735-4331.
