Halloween spooking hours set

Get your ghouls and goblins ready to collect some tricks or treats in Lafayette County. The following communities are holding Halloween events:
Belmont
Trick-or-treating will be from 5-7 p.m. on Oct. 31. A costume contest sponsored by the Belmont Lions Club will take place at 7 p.m. at the grade school gymnasium; doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Darlington
The Darlington FFA is kicking off the Halloween celebrations with a food drive at Dollar General and Piggly Wiggly Oct. 24-31. A police-escorted Halloween parade begins at the festival grounds at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 30. Children of all ages dressed in their favorite costumes will march up Main Street to the Municipal Building where the Darlington Community Halloween Party will run from 3-5 p.m. with games, treats and a costume contest for all ages. Then, on Oct. 31, trick-or-treating will take place on Main Street from 1-4 p.m. and throughout the rest of the city from 6-8 p.m. The fire siren will signify the end of the event.
Gratiot
The goodies are available in Gratiot from 6-8 p.m. on Oct. 31.
Shullsburg
Dress the little ones up for trick-or-treating in Shullsburg from 6-8 p.m. on Oct. 31.
South Wayne
Spooking hours in South Wayne are from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Oct. 31.
Wiota
Trick-or-treat hours will be held Oct. 31 from 5-7 p.m. in Wiota with a Halloween party at the Wiota Schoolhouse to follow starting at 7 p.m.
