Hard Candy Christmas celebration in Gays Mills
December 8-9
Placeholder Image

Imagine making your Christmas cookies in the state-of-the-art kitchen in the Gays Mills Community Commerce Center. On Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 8 and 9, you can do just that for free. But if cooking isn’t what you want to do, the event will feature vendors and demonstrators, who can help you with your Christmas gifts and plans.

On Saturday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., adults may sign up to use the facilities, which have been rented by Ocooch Mountain Made, as a gift to the community.

A little ‘Food & Creative Therapy’ is planned during the Hard Candy Christmas Celebration. The event will feature trained professionals in the science and art of making friends and having fun through the unconditional love of food. Plans include Christmas candy making and demonstrations, serving, and selling of favorites for the holidays, like lefse, sandbakkels and other treats. Several members of the local farmers market will be selling their preserves, jams, jellies, crafts and art objects.

Cooks, bakers and Christmas cookie makers will need to bring their own ingredients, and be cleaned up by 4 p.m. each day.

The Kickapoo Culinary Center is in the Gays Mills Community Commerce Center, located at 16381 Highway 131.
