Hillsboro area Clean Sweep to be held May 9

Vernon County will again offer services for recycling or properly disposing of household hazardous wastes, small amounts of agricultural chemicals, and paints May 9 at the Vernon County Highway Shop, 133 E. Madison St., Hillsboro, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

This event is free of charge to county residents.

Vernon County Solid Waste/Recycling will not be able to accept medications, radioactive materials, fireworks, ammunition, or explosives during this event.

This program is not set up to accept tires, appliances, electronic waste, waste oil, antifreeze, fluorescent bulbs, ballasts, batteries, or other recyclable or waste items.  These materials can be delivered to the County Landfill from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m., Monday-Friday.
