Johnson Public Library Activities
DARLINGTON – The Johnson Public Library has many events for the public to enjoy. The events for May are: May 4-Story Hour @ 10 a.m./Children’s Author  Jeanne Styczinski will do a fun art project and read from her books at 2 p.m.; May 8-Story ‘n’ Craft Hour @ 10 a.m.; May 10-Passport to Reading final book club meeting @ 3:45 p.m.; May 11-Story Hour @ 10 a.m./  Pages & Popcorn final book club and Jeopardy @ 1:45 p.m.
Darlington Food Pantry
DARLINGTON – The monthly Darlington Mobile Food Pantry will take place Friday, May 4th 2018 at the lower level of the Town Bank. Pantry hours are from 4-5 p.m. There are no income eligibility limits for people wishing to participate. Volunteers are needed from 3 pm to help unload the truck through 6 pm to help clean up. Volunteers can help with all or any part of the hours of the pantry. To volunteer contact Carrie at 608-293-0791 or simply come to the pantry and register as a volunteer.
Shullsburg Garage Sale Days
SHULLSBURG – Shullsburg Community Wide Garage Sale Days will be Friday, May 4 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 5 from 8 a.m. to noon.
Bloody Lake Rendezvous
WOODFORD – The 37th Annual Bloody Lake Rendezvous will be Saturday and Sunday, May 5 and 6 at Black Hawk Memorial Park in Woodford. Tourists are welcome to the camp from 9 a.m-4 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sunday.
Motor Show
FENNIMORE – The 4th Annual Motor Show and Swap Meet will be Saturday May 5 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Southwest Tech Ag/Auto building. Wiota Fireman’s Auxiliary
WIOTA – The Wiota Fireman’s Auxiliary annual card party will be held Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wiota School House. Euchre, 500 and Yass will be played.  Refreshments will be served.
Southwest Wisconsin Cornish Society
MINERAL POINT – The annual meeting of the Southwest Wisconsin Cornish Society has been set for Sunday, May 6.  The meeting will beheld at the UCC Congregational Church in Mineral Point. The event will begin with a potluck lunch at 12:30.  Please bring your own table service and a dish to share.  Beverages will be provided. All interest people are invited to attend!
DEMS Spring Concert
DARLINGTON – The D.E.M.S. music department will be performing a Spring Concert on Monday, May 7 at 7 p.m. in the Darlington Elementary/Middle School gym.  This concert will be the final concert of the school year for the middle school students.  Performing in the concert will be the Fifth and Sixth Grade Concert Band, the 7th and 8th Grade Concert Band, and the 7th and 8th Grade Chorus.  The bands are directed by Mr. John Bausch and the choirs are directed by Mrs. Tina Schliem.  Admission to the concert is free and open the public.
Lafayette Manor Auxiliary Meeting
DARLINGTON – There will be a meeting of the Lafayette Manor Auxiliary on Tuesday, May 8 at 4:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at Lori Allendorf’s home at 1390 Fayette Road, Darlington. The Agenda will include planning for future projects. New members are always welcome to join and be part of the Manor Auxiliary Family.
Bluebird Nest Nature Center
DARLINGTON – Join Steve Sample, manager of Wild Birds Unlimited in Madison on Wednesday, May 9, at the Bluebird Nest Nature Center, 308 Main Street, Darlington. Steve will present a program on the beautiful Northern Cardinal. The cardinal brings beauty year round, and many folks consider it their favorite bird. The program will start at 7:00 p.m. There will be refreshments. There is no charge for any Bluebird Nest Nature Center programs, and we are looking forward to seeing many of our friends from past years.
UCC Women’s Guild
DARLINGTON – The Immanuel Church Women’s Guild will be meeting on Thursday, May 10 for their “Honoring the Over 80 members”, at noon for lunch, and the program to follow. The Committee for the day is Wendy Leahy, Chair; Betsy Wiegel, Co-Chair; Joanie Keister, Amy Ruegsegger, Christie Meier, Amy Ray, Mary Lou Tuescher and Sheila Berrey. Everyone is always welcome to join.
McCoy Public Library
SHULLSBURG – Visit the McCoy Public Library for their fun events. On May 10 from 6–7 p.m. will be Nature Family Fun Night and on May 11 at 1:15 p.m. there will be an Early Release Movie.
Cinco de Mayo
DARLINGTON – The Darlington Chamber/Main Street presents Cinco de Mayo Darlington on Saturday, May 12 from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. at the City of Darlington Festival Grounds. This is a free admission event. There will be food booths, arts, crafts, informational and merchandise booths, a soccer tournament, inflatable rides, talent show, best homemade salsa contest, and plenty of music and performances. Join in on this festive day celebrating all the amazing cultures that call Darlington home.
Electronic Recycling Fundraiser

Garden Club Plant Sale
DARLINGTON – The Darlington Garden Club will hold a plant sale on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Lion’s Club shelter behind the Piggly Wiggly store in Darlington. This year children’s gardening activities will be offered at the same time.
Savatski Retirement Celebration
DARLINGTON – Please join the Darlington School District for a Retirement Celebration honoring Michelle Savatski on Wednesday, May 16 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the DEMS cafeteria.
Garden Club Meeting
DARLINGTON – The Darlington Garden Club will meet on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Room of Town Bank in Darlington. Mary Lindell is the hostess and Sara Aide will present a program titled “Garden Planning”. Any interested community members are invited to attend.
Baby Quilt Workshop
BELMONT – The Pleasant View Methodist Church, 12987 Pleasant View Rd., Belmont will host a baby quilt mission project workshop on May 19 from 9 a.m-3 p.m. Potluck lunch.  Sewers and non-sewers alike are needed to assist with creating baby quilts for Bringing Hope 2 Others, a mission serving a birthing center in Northern Tanzania.  Supplies will be provided, come for the day or as you are able.  Questions?  Call Kristie @ (608)762-5733; krisden@lagrant.net.
Belmont EMS Pancake Breakfast
BELMONT – The Belmont EMS Pancake Breakfast will be Sunday, May 20 serving from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Belmont Fire/EMS Building. It is a free will donation. All proceeds go towards the purchase of updated equipment and education for our EMT’s.
Community Blood Drive
LAFAYETTE COUNTY - The American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to resolve to give blood regularly. Sixteen year olds are accepted with parental consent. New donors must bring a photo ID and another form of ID.
