DARLINGTON – The Johnson Public Library has many events for the public to enjoy. McCoy Public Library
SHULLSBURG – The McCoy Public Library has many summer activities. The events for June are: June 14 at 10 a.m. children age 3-5K can join us as we go rock collecting and explore what we find.  June 15 at 10 a.m. children 1st-6th grade can Dig into Geology with local rock expert Steve Bussan. Hillbilly Silly Science Spectacular Comedy Show is June 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Shullsburg School Pit.  All ages are welcome to this family event.  You don’t want to miss this free show! June 22 at 10 a.m. everyone age 3-6th grade can attend a meet and greet for Shullsburg Local Rock Stars as the Police, Fire & EMS departments showcase what they do in the community. June 28 at 10 a.m. children age 3-5K can make their own musical instruments. June 29 at 10 a.m. children 1st-3rd grade will learn about our local instrument & vocal opportunities.  June 29 at noon children 4th-6th grade can pack a lunch & meet at Badger Park to build their own rocket.  Followed by a rocket launch!  Registration forms for all events are available at McCoy Public Library.  Students should sign up according to grade they will be entering.
Gratiot Annex Library
GRATIOT – Children ages 3-years-old to 5th grade are invited to Gratiot Annex Library on Thursdays from 1:30-2:30 p.m. June 14, 21, 28 and July 12.  Join us for a variety of fun and engaging stories, activities & crafts.
Community Blood Drive
LAFAYETTE COUNTY - The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center encourages eligible donors to resolve to give blood regularly. Donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types AB, O, B negative and A negative. For questions about eligibility, please call the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center at (800) 747-5401. Blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour.  Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure may be accepted as eligible donors. The MVRBC is the exclusive provider to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County.

UCC Women’s Guild
DARLINGTON – The Immanuel Church Women’s Guild will be held on Thursday, June 14 at 12:00 p.m. with a light brunch. Program for the day will be Val Atkinson telling of her midwife duties. Committee for the day will be Julie Hinderman, chair; Peggy Rolli, co-chair; Suzanne Marx, Amy Prine, Nikki Martin, Missy Rankin, Nicole Lewin, Mary Geissbuhler and Diane Ritchie. Everyone is always welcome to join with us.
Costa Rica for the Birds
DARLINGTON – On Thursday, June 14, at 7:00 p.m., Patrick Ready will present a program about birds he photographed on a recent trip to Costa Rica. Pat is an experienced bird photographer and has presented wonderful programs at the nature center for the last three years. Join Pat and experience some of the beautiful birds of the tropics.  The Bluebird Nest Nature Center is sponsored by the Lafayette County Bluebird Society, which is a non-profit organization. There are no fees for any programs, but donations are appreciated.
Relay for Life
DARLINGTON – The 2018 Relay for Life Lafayette County Cancer Walk will be Saturday, June 16 from 5:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. at Collin’s Park in Darlington. Lafayette County’s 2018 Chairperson is Jennifer Davis. At 9:00 p.m., at Collins Park in Darlington, candles will be lit in memory and in honor of the hundreds of loved ones affected by cancer.
PTSD Peer Support Group
DODGEVILLE – The third Thursday of each month, from 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m., the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Iowa County meets at the Upland Hills Medical Center Conference Room for a PTSD Peer Support Group for returned vets and their families that may need some advice on readjusting to civilian life and the effects of PTSD. This group is open to all branches of service. The group is also open to law enforcement, firemen, EMT that may have suffered or experienced PTSD due to a traumatic event they have been exposed to in the line of duty. The Suicide Prevention Coalition is partnering up with Upland Hills Medical Center to provide this free service to the community.
Murph Classic
DARLINGTON – The Knights of Columbus present the Murph Classic on Friday, June 22 at The Sand Trap, Darlington Country Club. Register at 3:30 p.m.; shot gun start at 4:30 p.m.; 9 hole/4 person – best ball; $40/person, club members are $30; get a chance to win a new recliner at hole #5. The buffet served at 6:30 p.m. is open to the public. Register by June 15 by calling 776-3377. Crusin’ for the Cure
DARLINGTON – Jerry’s Automotive presents the 3rd Annual Cruisin’ for the Cure Classic Car Show on Saturday, June 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lafayette County Fairgrounds. All proceeds go to local charities and the Lafayette County Relay for Life. Sign up for lots of door prizes. Car and driver are free. Spectator donation of $3. Grant County Rural Stewardship
PLATTEVILLE – Grant County Rural Stewardship will be holding it’s next meeting on Tuesday, June 26 at 6 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Platteville Public Library, located at 225 W. Main Street.  The recently formed group is free and open to the public.  It’s mission statement, “Protect the natural resources and beauty of Grant County through community outreach and promotion of sustainable practices to ensure quality water and healthy land for diverse populations”, reflects the group’s focus and more can be learned about the group by visiting their Facebook page.
Autism: 101 Workshop
DARLINGTON – A free workshop about autism will be on Thursday, June 28, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Darlington Elementary/Middle School, 11630 Center Hill Road. The workshop is open to the public and includes an introduction to autism, how individuals with autism may think and feel, and where to find resources and support. Attendees will receive informational materials including diagnosis information, parenting resources, helpful school tips, and community resources and will have an opportunity to ask individual questions.  The workshop is registered at The-Registry.org and qualifies for 2 hours of Continuing Education Credits (CEUs). Certificates of Attendance will be provided at the workshop.
