The Platteville Police Department is planning activities in conjunction with National Night Out Tuesday, Aug. 6.

Detective Amy Hartwig is in charge of this event.

“Beginning at 6 p.m. we will be holding a walk from City Park to the Platteville Family Aquatic Center,” she said. “Anyone who participates in the walk will be able to swim for only $1.”

Johnson Productions has donated their services and will be providing music at the pool that evening.

The walk is a community event and families are invited to attend. All children younger than 13 must be accompanied by an adult on the walk.

Residents of Platteville are asked to leave their porch lights on that night to show support of National Night Out.

National Night Out is a night in which the community comes together to strengthen neighborhood spirit and police–community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are fighting back.

“This is an event for all community members and families are encouraged to participate,” said Hartig.
