The Platteville Police Department is taking applications for the 2016 Emergency Services Citizens Academy.

The Citizens Academy will meet Wednesday nights March 2 through May 4. Participants will train with fire, police and EMS personnel and see what they actually do. The hands-on experience is put into perspective at the end of the program, when a scenario night brings all three services together to interact on a simulated emergency call.

Goals of the Citizens Academy include giving community members a working knowledge of emergency services operations, strengthening community support for emergency services, and opening new lines of communication with the community by forming new relationships.

Any adult who lives or works in Platteville or has some connection to the city willing to learn about Platteville’s Emergency Services can apply to the Citizens Academy.

Applications can be obtained at the Platteville Police Department or the Municipal Building, or online at http://platteville.org/w/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/2016-Citizens-Academy-Application-1.0.pdf.

The application deadline is Feb. 1. The class size is limited.
