The Soldiers Grove Public Library Open House, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14 and Sunday, Sept. 15, will give members of the community, as well as corporate and foundation sponsors, an official welcome to the expanded and renovated facility.

“We are pleased and very grateful that, with community support, we have achieved many of the initial goals for the expansion and renovation of the library,” said Cele Wolf, the library’s director.  “Because of the generosity of so many, this ‘Little Library That Could’ did raise over $680,000, and we hope that many community members will stop by during our open house and in the days and weeks to come, to see the results.”

The Soldiers Grove Public Library Open House hours are 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with a solar tour planned for 2 p.m. on Saturday.  Visitors can browse the library, learn about the renovated solar heating and air conditioning, enjoy refreshments, and chat with library staff and board. They can also get details on the patio-pavers commemorative program.

The brick pavers in the book-drop area near the main entrance can be reserved at $100 per brick and can be inscribed for individuals, families, businesses, and commemorations of all kinds. Proceeds will go to the library’s ongoing maintenance and expenses.

Pavers are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and order forms can be obtained at the open house or at other times by calling or visiting the library. Orders made before January 1, 2014, will be filled in the spring of 2014. If any bricks remain after that date, they will be available for engraving and placement in the fall of 2014.
