A full milk truck ran off the road and rolled in Vernon County  July 22 with two Sparta residents inside.

Vernon County Sheriff’s Office investigators said the driver, Nathan Bousman, 41, of lost control when making a left turn on Hwy. D near Hall Road in rural Westby. The truck went off the right side of the road and overturned.

It came to a stop in the upright position, as did the milk tank, which detached during the crash. The tank was full, but leakage was minimal, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.

Bousman and a passenger, Rebecca Marcie Esther Elton, 37, were taken to Gundersen Health System in La Crosse with non-life-threatening injuries. Elton had to be removed from the wreckage by firefighters.

She was wearing a seat belt, while Bousman was not, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The truck is owned by Sparta-based Ettrick Transport of Wisconsin.

Assisting at the scene were the La Farge Fire Department, La Farge Ambulance, and Cashton First Responders.

The crash remains under investigation.
