North Fourth Street work begins this week, to end by mid-August

PLATTEVILLE — Construction on North Fourth Street from Ridge Avenue to Camp Street will begin this week.

The utility contractor, Rule Construction, is starting today. Once Rule Construction begins, North Fourth will be closed to through traffic. People that live on North Fourth Street will be allowed to use the project along with Stratton Buses only.

When construction begins, residents along Fourth Street, from Sylvia Street to Jewett Street will have a water outage of about six hours. Residents will be notified by a door flyer 24 hours before the outage.

The project will be completed by the middle of August, according to city officials. The original project time line was June 10 to Sept. 10. The project is starting one month earlier and is projected to be completed one month earlier, depending on weather.
