Leave the stop signs alone

Platteville police reported repeated thefts of stop signs near the UW–Platteville campus in recent weeks.

The thefts include, on repeated occasions last weekend, the west-side stop sign intersection of Elm Street and Cedar Street, as well as the west-side stop sign at the intersection of Market Street and Elm Street.

Stealing traffic signs is illegal under state law, and can lead to injury and death when drivers don’t see stop signs.

Anyone with information on the stop sign thefts should contact Platteville police, 348-2313.
