Sex offender released into community of Darlington

Carl Knapp, a convicted sex offender, was released into the Darlington community on Tuesday, March 4.

Carl J. Knapp, 61, a convicted sex offender was released by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections into the community of Darlington on Tuesday, March 4.

Knapp was convicted of second-degree sexual assault of a child: incest with child on March 3, 2004 and was sentenced to serve 10 years in prison and 10 years of extended supervision. Special conditions of Knapp’s supervision include no non-chaperoned contact with children, no drinking, no entrance to bars and no drugs.

Knapp is described as a white male weighing 147 pounds and standing at 5’6”. He has blue eyes and brown-gray hair.
As Knapp does not currently have a residence or a job, he will be required to stay at the Lafayette County Jail at night and will be released during the day to seek employment and residency.

The city of Darlington Police Department released a press release with this information to enhance public safety and protection.
