Two Viroqua men were injured in a one-vehicle rollover crash early May 3 at the intersection of Hwys. 14 and 27 in Franklin township.

The driver, Shane Johnson, 28, and his passenger, Jordan Olson, 24, fled the scene of the crash, which occurred at approximately 3 a.m.

The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office in Viroqua was notified a vehicle had rolled over along the highway and was unoccupied. It was resting on its roof.

The Sheriff’s Office also received a report from a witness who saw two people walking from the crash scene. Approximately one hour later, a nearby business owner called to report that someone had been walking around their building.

Deputies found Johnson lying face down along a creek by the business. He was breathing, but unresponsive. He was taken by Tri-State Ambulance to Vernon Memorial Healthcare in Viroqua for treatment of his injuries.

Olson was located hours after the crash at his residence. He sustained minor injures.

It is unknown if either man wore seat belts. Airbags in the vehicle did not deploy.

The Viroqua and Westby police departments and the Viroqua Fire Department assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
