Hillsboro to be featured in Discover Wisconsin episode

Hillsboro is one of several western Wisconsin communities the will be featured in an upcoming episode of the nation’s longest-running tourism TV show, “Discover Wisconsin.”

Airing Jan. 17, “Motorcycling—Wisconsin’s Western Ride” will reach Discover Wisconsin’s broadcast network of 500,000 viewers across the upper Great Lakes region, including Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Northern Illinois, and Upper Michigan.

The program airs locally at 6:30 p.m. Saturdays on WKOW-TV Ch. 27 (Community Antenna System ch. 9). Discover Wisconsin also airs every Saturday at 10 a.m. on Fox Sports North (Community Antenna System Ch. 39).

“I’ve learned motorcycling enthusiasts totally understand the mantra: ‘the journey is the destination,” said Mariah Haberman,  “Discover Wisconsin” co-host. “That is what this episode is all about; having fun while getting from point A to B. Our crew is excited to show the beauty of western Wisconsin off to our Midwest audience!”

“Motorcycling—Wisconsin’s Western Ride” is hosted by  Haberman and Collin Geraghty.

The episode kicks off in Platteville, where Haberman and crew filmed at a variety of popular attractions in the area including the Platteville Veterans Memorial, Hometown Hog Roast, and the world’s largest M among other spots.

In Monroe County, the Discover Wisconsin crew stopped by Butterfest and Historic Four Corners in Sparta as well as the Wisconsin Cranberry Discovery Center, Humbird Cheese and the Veterans Memorial in Tomah.

Geraghty also drove through the Hillsboro area. There, the crew discovered Wildcat Mountain State Park in Ontario, Rockton Bar and Hillsboro Brewing Company.

The Discover Wisconsin crew also spent a couple days filming in La Crosse where motorcyclists explore Riverside Park, Grandad Bluff and Rudy’s Drive-In.

Rounding out the show is a pit stop in northwest Wisconsin. Haberman rode along with local motorcyclists in Bayfield County to destinations such as Garmisch USA Resort, White Winter Winery and Delta Diner.

The episode was produced in partnership with Bayfield County Tourism, City of Hillsboro, La Crosse Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, Platteville Area Chamber of Commerce, Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce, Tomah Chamber of Commerce and Discover Wisconsin.
