JAMESTOWN — An 8-year-old boy died in an accidental shooting Friday morning.

The Dickeyville EMS and Jamestown First Responders were dispatched to the house for an accidental shooting. Shortly after their arrival, Gavin Klenzman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Department.

According to a Sheriff's Department news release Thursday morning, the preliminary investigation showed that three juvenile males gained access to a firearm. During their handling of the firearm, the gun discharged and Klenzman was shot in the head, according to the release.

Klenzman is the son of Lisa Gibson and Jamie Klein, Cuba City, and Mark and Jamie Klenzman, Bloomington, Ill. His funeral was held in Dubuque Tuesday.

The sheriff's department is continuing to investigate the shooting.

The news release reminds gun-owners to make sure all their firearms are locked up and not accessible to children.
