Audrey Jean “Dot” Fitzsimons, age 89, of Darlington passed away at her home on Feb. 26, 2016 after a short battle with cancer.  She was born on June 29, 1926 in Darlington the daughter of William R. and Ethel (Richards) McCarville. Audrey graduated from Darlington High School in 1942 and later from the Milwaukee Business School. She was united in marriage to John Michael Fitzsimons on May 1, 1946 at St. Michael’s church in Calamine. Audrey lived in Darlington where they farmed until 1975 until moving to Janesville where she worked for Milton College and the Wisconsin Department of Probation until she then returned to Darlington in 2006.
Audrey is survived by her eleven children:  Michael (Margaret) Fitzsimons, Jim (Laurie) Fitzsimons, David (Laura) Fitzsimons all of Janesville, Beth (Tom) Wilhelmson of Belvidere, Ill., Lynn (Steve) Olson, Jack (Terri) Fitzsimons, Bill (Tammy Burnett) Fitzsimons all of Darlington, Deborah McQuinn of Fort Atkinson, Susan (Robert) Stietz of Gratiot, Lori Fitzsimons of Mazomanie, Dan ( Stella) Fitzsimons of Valencia, Calif.; one Daughter-in-law: Judy Fitzsimons; two sisters: Mary Buschor and Pat (Ron) Black both of Darlington; 45 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: John on Sept. 10, 2001; two sons: John Jeremy in infancy and Jeff Fitzsimons on Jan. 8, 1991; one grandson: Ricky Stietz on Aug. 16, 1992; three brothers: Jerry, Jim and Kenneth McCarville; one sister: Judy Dalton and one son-in-law: Steve McQuinn.
Audrey was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed tending to her flowers. Audrey loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and always enjoyed going to garage sales and bargain hunting.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, a branch of Our Lady of Fatima (104 E Harriet St, Darlington) with Rev. John Bosco Pudhota officiating.  A visitation was held, Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Holy Rosary Church, a branch of Our Lady of Fatima, Darlington from 3:00-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 3:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 9:00-10:30 a.m.  Burial will be at the Truman Cemetery.  The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. Due to the Lenten Season, the Church restricts the number of flowers that can be in the church during the mass therefore the family prefers memorials in lieu of flowers.
