Avis H. Leverenz, of Hillsboro, passed into eternal life on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016 at Heritage Manor in Elroy, Wisconsin at the age of 86. 

Avis was born in the Township of Summit, Juneau County, Wisconsin on April 30, 1929.  She was the third daughter of William and Hattie (Hellpap) Roehrs.  She attended school at the Red School and was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wonewoc.  She married Harvey R. Leverenz on May 22, 1947 in Wonewoc. 

Avis dedicated her life to her marriage and family and lovingly cared for her children as well as her parents as they aged. 

She is survived by her husband, Harve; a son, Harvey Scott Leverenz of Hillsboro and a daughter, Greta (Paul) Flath of Columbus; also survived by three granddaughters, Tamara (Rexx) Igunbor, Amy (Michael) Coles, all of Menomonee Falls, and Heidi (Graham) Booth of San Francisco, California.  She had four Great Grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. 

Avis was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Adeline at birth and Helen (Fred) Jannisch; aunts, uncles and cousins. 

A prayer service will be held at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016 at 1 p.m., with graveside rites following at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Wonewoc. 

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. William Cooke and the staffs of Heritage Manor and Gundersen St. Joseph’s Hospital for the excellent and attentive care that Avis received during her final days.
