Geraldine A. McCarville, 90, of South Beloit, Ill., died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, Nov. 24, 2017 at Presence Cor Mariae Center, Rockford, Ill. We hope she enjoys heaven as much as we enjoyed having her here with us.
She was born July 5, 1927 in Cuba City, the daughter of Sylvester and Mary Ann (Hoppenjan) Wedig. Geraldine was a 1944 graduate of Cuba City High School. She attended Beauty School in Milwaukee and then worked as beauty operator in Darlington. Geraldine married Kenneth McCarville on Feb 20, 1954 in the Holy Rosary Church in Darlington. He predeceased her on June 18, 2005.
Geraldine was employed by the Beloit Corporation, retiring in 1995. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, South Beloit, Ill. Geraldine served as past president of the Diocesan Comitium of the Legion of Mary. She was an avid supporter of Pro Life, saving many souls. Geraldine was an avid worshiper at St. Peter Adoration Chapel, serving as the coordinator for many years. She had a great love for the Blessed Virgin and Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Geraldine was a beloved wife, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, whom was loved by all who knew her.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeanne Fisher of Herrin, Ill.; sons, Thomas McCarville of Beloit, Daniel (Della) McCarville of Orange, Calif., David (Kathleen) McCarville of Roscoe, Ill., and Michael (Lolet) McCarville of Chicago, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Ellen Wedig of Madison, Bonnie Wedig of Madison,  and Louise Westberg of Madison; brother-in-law, Les Shultz of Ponca City, Okla.; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Wedig of Cuba City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband; son, Patrick; brothers, William Wedig, Keith Wedig, Arthur Wedig, and James Wedig; sisters, Mary Shultz and Betty Smith.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 in St. Peter Catholic Church, 620 Blackhawk Blvd, South Beloit, Ill., with Fr. Steven Sabo officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawn Cemetery. Visitation of remembrance will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, Wis., with a rosary to be recited at 4:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to St. Peter Catholic School.
