Leona A. Adler, age 94 of Argyle passed away Friday, Jan. 1, 2016 at the Monroe Manor Nursing Home in Monroe.  She was born on July 2, 1921 in Blanchardville, the daughter of Oscar and Ella (Hoffmaster) Ayen.  Leona graduated from Blanchardville High School in 1939.  She grew up in the rural Blanchardville area.
    Leona was united in marriage to Werner P. Adler on February 19, 1941 at York Memorial Lutheran Church in rural Blanchardville. They lived in the rural Blanchardville area until 1950 when they moved to Argyle.  Leona worked for the Egg Company in Argyle, at Swiss Colony in Monroe, in housekeeping at both Pleasant View Nursing Home and St. Clare Hospital in Monroe, and later at Argyle Industry until her retirement at age 80.
    Leona is survived by two sons: Roger (Nancy) Adler of Belmont and Larry (Mary) Adler of Honolulu, Hawaii; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one cousin:  Alana Phelps of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Werner in 1969; three brothers: Willard, Harold and Otis Ayen; and one sister: Helen White.
    Leona was a member of the York Memorial Lutheran Church and its WELCA.  She enjoyed spending time with her family which was her pride and joy.  Leona spent much of her free time outside tending to her flowers.  She will be fondly remembered by her family and friends.
    A funeral service was held Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at York Memorial Lutheran Church (N9407 Highway 78, Blanchardville 53516) with Rev. Kalen Barkholtz officiating. Burial will be in York Memorial Cemetery. A visitation was held Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.  The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family.  Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
