Obit Preston Nelson

Preston De Santis Nelson, age 19, of Soldiers Grove, died suddenly as a result of an automobile accident on Sunday morning, April 12, 2015 on Highway 14 between Viroqua and Readstown.

He was born on April 18, 1995 in Viroqua to Guy and Tamara (Sidie) Nelson. He attended North Crawford High School and graduated in 2013. Preston lived near Soldiers Grove his entire life. He had many passions including hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and of course his love for truck pulling. You could always find him driving around in his trucks of which he was always very proud of. Starting at a very young age he worked side by side with his Mom and Dad with the family businesses and was preparing to open his own business in Soldiers Grove. In his short life, Preston touched many people’s lives with his kind personality, big heart, and huge smile. Although he left us at a young age his impressions will last forever with his family and many friends.

Preston is survived by his parents, Guy and Tamara Nelson of Soldiers Grove; his sister, Starr Nelson of Soldiers Grove; maternal grandparents, Larry (Maureen) Sidie of Viroqua, Sharon (Gary Becker) Nicks of La Farge; paternal grandfather, Jerome Nelson of Soldiers Grove; paternal uncle, Bryce (Ronda) Nelson and their daughter, Carli of DeSoto; paternal aunt, Marcey Nelson of Soldiers Grove; maternal uncle, Randy (Verlyn) Sidie of Viroqua and his most dearest friends, Kirsten, Anthony, Erik, Ricky and many other close friends. He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.

Preston was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Margaret Nelson and uncle, Wade Sidie.

Funeral services were held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, April 16, 2015 at the Viroqua Church of Christ. Pastor Steve Fossum officiated. A visitation was held at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Burial was in the Viroqua Cemetery. Serving as lead casket bearer was his dad, Guy Nelson. Anthony France, Erik Vesbach, Rick Hadley, Gabe Rayner, Bryce Nelson and Gabe Williams also served as casket bearers.
