Sylvia lived an active and energetic life. She was employed for over 30 years at St. Joseph’s Memorial Hospital first as a nurses’ aide in the nursing home and then as a dietary aide where she retired at age 72. She always enjoyed being outdoors and working with her hands. She spoke fondly of farming and reminisced the simpler times of her childhood. She enjoyed raising vegetables and flowers, feeding and watching the birds in her backyard, spending time with her family, playing penny slots, and frequently enjoying ice-cream at the Hillsboro Drive In.
