Sylvia A. Alderman-Dziewior, age 87 years, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Heritage Manor in Elroy, Wisconsin.

She was born Jan. 19, 1927 to Louis and Agnes (Sebranek) Fronk in Hillsboro. She grew to adulthood in the Town of Greenwood area and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1945.

Sylvia was united in marriage to James D. “Jim” Alderman on Sept. 17, 1946 in Hillsboro. They lived and farmed in the St. Mary’s Ridge and Trippville areas before moving to town in Hillsboro where they owned and operated Jim’s Radio and TV for several years. Jim preceded Sylvia in death in 1983 after 36 years of marriage.

Sylvia was blessed to find love a second time and married Walter J. “Wally” Dziewior of Mauston, Sept. 22, 1990. Sylvia and Wally remained in Hillsboro and enjoyed dancing and traveling. Wally preceded Sylvia in death in 2005 after 14 years of marriage.

Sylvia lived an active and energetic life. She was employed for over 30 years at St. Joseph’s Memorial Hospital first as a nurses’ aide in the nursing home and then as a dietary aide where she retired at age 72. She always enjoyed being outdoors and working with her hands. She spoke fondly of farming and reminisced the simpler times of her childhood. She enjoyed raising vegetables and flowers, feeding and watching the birds in her backyard, spending time with her family, playing penny slots, and frequently enjoying ice-cream at the Hillsboro Drive In.

Survivors include three children: Dean (Sue) Alderman, David (Kim) Alderman, Danita (Dean) Muller; grandchildren: Tom (Heidi) Alderman, Todd (Katie) Alderman, Farrah Alderman, Ashley (Kurt) Toczynski, Jase Alderman, Ciell (Derick) Steinman, Lantz (Brittany) Hammond, Andrew Hammond, Mitch (Hannah) Muller, and Jamie Muller; three step children: Robert (Debbie) Dziewior, Mark (Kris) Dziewior, and Jane Dziewior; 19 great grandchildren; two sisters: Leona (Robert) Schmidt and Marie (Melvin) Miller; and one brother: Ed (May) Fronk.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Raymond Fronk; two sisters, Norma Dybvig and Margaret Ott; two infant children and husbands, James Alderman and Walter Dziewior.

Friends called at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 1 to 2:30 p.m., with a Memorial Service to be held at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Isaac Fleming officiating. A luncheon followed the service at the Hillsboro Community Center. A private burial service at the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Hillsboro will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations go to St. Joseph’s Memorial Hospital, Hillsboro; First Congregational Church of Hillsboro; or Heritage Manor of Elroy.
