William N. “Bill” Gile, age 83 of Shullsburg, passed away Friday, Aug. 18, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 27, 1934, in Wisconsin, the son of Clifford and Anna (Stadele) Gile. Bill graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1953. He was united in marriage to Donna Moore on May 28, 1953, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Shullsburg. Bill lived in the Shullsburg area most of his life. He farmed with his wife in Shullsburg Township where they raised their family.  In 1974 he pursued a career as an electrician in Shullsburg where he owned and operated Gile Electric.
Bill is survived by five children: Rick Gile of Dubuque, Iowa, Deb Amici of Delavan, Pam (Jim) Siegert of Onalaska, Joe (Lisa) Gile of Covington, Ky., and Steve (Beth) Gile of Bentonville, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Mary McCoy of Madison and Jean  Otting of Cascade, Iowa; two sisters-in-law: Edie Bruehahn of Windsor, Colo. and Dorothy Kramer of Cascade, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Donna on Dec. 31, 2007; one son: Joseph in infancy; one daughter-in-law: Diane Gile; one son-in-law: Craig Amici; seven siblings: Clifford, Robert, Charles, James, Cletus, Jack and Gertrude Townsend.
Bill was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Shullsburg. He was very active in his community throughout his life.  Bill’s family will always remember him for the passion he had for life, his sense of humor and the love and loyalty he had for his family and friends.  Bill also enjoyed woodworking, collecting toy tractors, and traveling with Donna on the Goldwing.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church (344 N. Judgement St., Shullsburg, WI) in Shullsburg where Rev. Sudhakar Devarapu and Rev. Joji Reddy concelebrated.  The visitation was from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. also at St. Matthew’s.  The Erickson Funeral Home in Shullsburg is serving the family.  Online condolences may be expressed to the family at ericksonfuneralhome.com. 
For those who prefer, a memorial fund has been established in Bill’s name.
