WEEK 11's TEAMS OF THE WEEK (Oct. 25-Nov. 2)

Darlington Boys Cross Country – Led by individual winner Tyson Miehe, the Darlington boys’ cross country team won the Division 3 team state championship at last week’s WIAA state cross country championships in Wisconsin Rapids. It was the program’s first state title since 1986. Miehe won the boys’ race in 16:02.14, followed by Destin Komprood (6th, 16:50), Michael Sinclair (9th, 16:54.61), Kent Miehe (14th, 17:24) and Brady McDaniel (16th, 17:33).

Dodgeville/Mineral Point Girls Cross Country – The Dodge-Point Dodgers blew away the competition, placing three runners in the top 11 at Saturday’s WIAA state cross country championships to repeat as the Division 2 girls’ team champion. Molly Hanson won the D2 individual championship (14:23.10), Hannah Owens finished seventh (14:49.49) and Anna Eisenzimmer placed 11th (14:58.26). Mairin Cahill (15:17.87) and Abby Philipps (15:45.47) rounded out the Dodgers scoring lineup.

Southwestern Volleyball – Senior Katelyn Hoppman had 24 kills, 13 digs and five blocks to lead the Wildcats to a 25-20, 19-25, 25-15, 16-25, 15-8 victory over Wisconsin Heights in last Saturday’s WIAA Division 3 Mineral Point sectional final to earn Southwestern’s first-ever state tournament. Molly Wubben passed out 35 assists and had 12 digs, and Alyssa Iserman added 13 kills for the winners. Last Thursday Southwestern swept Markesan 25-11, 25-16, 25-15 in a sectional semifinal.

Hillsboro volleyball – Behind 19 kills and three aces from German exchange student Charis Luedtke, Hillsboro swept River Ridge 25-21, 25-21, 25-21 in Saturday’s WIAA Division 4 Onalaska sectional final to earn a trip to the D4 state tournament. Last Thursday Luedtke slammed 25 kills and served up a pair of aces, while Ali Brey passed out 16 assists in the Tigers’ 25-22, 25-22, 25-23 sweep of Cochrane-Fountain City.
