Lancaster girls win team title at own 15-team invite, Flying Arrows boys finish second

LANCASTER – With 105 total points, the Lancaster girls’ track and field team finished first of 16 teams at last Thursday’s Lancaster Invite.

The Flying Arrows finished 8.5 points ahead of the second-place team from Westby, and 21 points ahead of the third-place team from Platteville.

First-place finishes for the Lady Arrows included: Lainee Burks in the 100 (:13.24), Eden Bowen in the 200 (:27.06), Macie Galle in the pole vault (10’0”), the 4x200 relay team of Burks, Bowen, Sophie Burr and Maddie Nielsen (1:51.02), and the 4x400 relay team of Kylie Olmstead, Angela Clauer, Sophie Burr and Mallory Olmstead (4:20.08).

The Lancaster boys scored 93 team points, finishing second to Platteville, who ended the meet with 94.5 points.

First-place finishes for the Lancaster boys include: Semaj Venson in the long jump (21’8.75”), Connor Raisbeck in the discus (139’1”), the 4x100 relay team of Venson, Brennen Gildersleeve, Peyton Hale and Max Bedward (:44.59), and the 4x200 relay team of Venson, Bedward, Hale and Michael Murphy (1:32.72).

The Flying Arrow track and field athletes will next compete at the Platteville Relays on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m., then will host the SWC Invite on Thursday, April 25, beginning at 5 p.m.

Monday’s Prairie du Chien Relays was cancelled due to Sunday’s snow storm, and will not be made up.
