BLANCHARDVILLE — Junior Jacob Benish went 2–1 and placed second at 195 pounds to lead Hillsboro at Saturday’s Scenic Ridge and Rivers conference wrestling tournament at Pecatonica High School.

Benish (15–13) received a quarterfinal bye in the five-man bracket, then pinned Cashton’s Trevor Hemmersback 27 seconds into the third period advance to the finals.

De Soto’s Mike Finney (25-7) defeated Benish 10–3, but Benish scored a team-high 18 points to help the Tigers finish sixth as a team with 67 points.

Cashton scored 172 points to capture the team title. New Lisbon finished a close second with 162.5 points.

Freshman Jason Griffiths (106) and Dakota Wells (113) both finished third.

Griffiths (14–10) received a quarterfinal bye, but suffered a 9–4 semifinal loss to Cashton’s Josh Korn (26–7).

Griffiths bounced back to pin Brookwood’s Reed Revels in the 106-pound third-place match.

Wells (10–14) pinned Cashton’s Anthony Whitehead in the second period to place third at 113 pounds after a semifinal loss to North Crawford/Seneca’s Tyler Finnell.

Senior Sebastion Miller (15–10) went 1–2 and placed fourth at 160 pounds.

Freshman Riley Bolden (7–14) went 2–1 to finish fifth at 126 pounds.

Freshman Jacob Urban (15–12) also finished fifth at 152.

Hillsboro will travel to Elroy Saturday for the WIAA Division 3 Royall Regional.
