Hillsboro track teams open at North Crawford

The Hillsboro track team’s opened the season last Tuesday at the North Crawford Invitational.

The Hillsboro girls scored 59 team points and placed sixth out of 14 teams.

River Ridge won the girls’ team title with 144.33 points ahead of the host Trojans (104.33) and third-place Wauzeka–Steuben (103).

Junior Morgan Huntley was the Lady Tigers’ top individual finisher, placing second in the shot put with a toss of 31–1¼. She also placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 79–4.

The quarter of Shauna Parish, Michaela Bach, Macey Brown and Adriana Reese earned a second-place finish in the 4x800 relay with a time of 11:52.41.

Zea Woods, Lydia Westedt, Ida Schuett and Alexis Clark finished third in the 4x200 relay (2:13.32).

April Thornsen, Sam Hora, Belinda Griffin and Lydia Benish finished fourth in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:57.42.

Woods finished fourth in the triple jump (29–2½).

The Hillsboro boys scored 29 points and placed eighth out of 13 teams. Kickapoo/La Farge won the boys’ team title with 127 points.

The Hillsboro 4x400 relay team of Adrian Marquez, Preston Kaus, Riley Boldon and Justin Muller finished third with a time of 4:07.18.

Ean Levy earned the boys’ top individual finish with a fourth place in the discus with a toss of 99–6.

Hillsboro traveled to the Royall Invitational on Thursday.

The Hillsboro girls scored 56 points to place fifth out of nine teams, while the Tigers boys scored 34 points to place sixth.

Reese, Annie Haas, Benish and Brown won the girls’ 4x800 relay in 11:47.25.

Reese also finished second in the 3,200 (15:03.35) to post the Hillsboro girls’ top individual finish.

Thornsen, Brown, Bach and Parish finished second in the 4x400 relay (4:48.58).

Levy placed third in the discus (104–6), Marquez finished third in the triple jump (38–0½) and the Hillsboro 4x100 relay team of Bolden, Muller, Kaus and Dylan Thew also earned a bronze medal with a time of 52.09 seconds.

Monday’s Lee Griffin Invitational at Kickapoo was rained out. No make up date has been announced.

The Tigers will return to action Saturday at the Cashton Invitational. Hillsboro will then travel to the Boscobel Relays on Monday and the Necedah Invitational on Tuesday.
