Three Hillsboro wrestlers took part in Saturday’s 18-team Sparta Invitational.

Junior Jacob Benish went 2–1 and placed fifth at 195 pounds.

Benish (13–12) received a first-round bye, but was sent to the consolation bracket with a quarterfinal loss to Mauston’s Eddie Hillman.

Benish bounced back with back-to-back pins over Adams–Friendship’s Dylan Looman and Blair–Taylor’s Reed Guenther to finish fifth.

Junior Nolan Hammer went 0–2 at 152 pounds, as did freshman Jason Griffiths at 106.

The Tigers wrestled a non-conference dual at Kickapoo/La Farge Friday night but results were not made available to the Sentry Enterprise prior to press time.

Hillsboro (1–3 SBC) will travel to Weston/Ithaca for a non-conference dual Friday night to close out the regular season.

The Tigers will then shift gears into postseason mode, preparing for the Scenic Ridge and Rivers Conference Tournament that will be held Saturday, Feb. 7 at Pecatonica High School.

Hillsboro will compete in the WIAA Division 3 Royall Regional on Saturday, Feb. 14.
