The North Crawford-Seneca wrestling team had a solid first tournament with five out of eight varsity wrestlers competing in the medaling round.

In addition, both junior varsity wrestlers, Jordan Mercer and Logan Brown, took second and first, respectively.  The team placed sixth out of 13 teams.

Returning wrestlers Tyler Finnell (113lbs), Zach Stluka (160lbs), Kaleb Davenport (170lbs), and Noah Brown (285lbs) all achieved a goal for the year of making it to the medaling round.

Brown took home first place, while Finnell placed second. Stluka and Davenport placed fourth—both were wrestling in the toughest weight brackets of the tournament.

Jeremy File (220lbs) was the surprise of the tournament placing third.  While File has not wrestled since grade school, that did not keep him from placing third in his first varsity tournament.

“Jeremy wrestled tough all day, showing good balance and strength,” coach Eric Hady said later.

The North Crawford-Seneca wrestling team will travel to Black Hawk to wrestle the conference duals on Saturday, Dec. 14.
