BLANCHARDVILLE – With his team struggling to score runs, Black Hawk head coach Roger Jackson knows all too well that it’s a bad idea to give his opponent too many freebies.
Pecatonica took advantage of eight Warrior errors to run away with a 17-4 five-inning Six Rivers East victory at Blanchardville on Thursday, May 3.
The Lady Warriors (1-7 overall, 0-5 in SRE) grabbed a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Vikings charged back with six runs in the bottom of the first and four more in the second to take control of the game.
At Gratiot, on Tuesday, May 1, a pair of Monticello pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout as the visiting Ponies blanked the Warriors, 11-0, in a five-inning SRE clash.
Kassy Paulson doubled for one of Black Hawk’s three hits.
At Gratiot, on Monday, May 7, the Lady Warriors’ non-conference contest with Potosi was cancelled with no planned make-up date.
Black Hawk will host upcoming SRE games against Barneveld on Thursday, May 10, and Juda/Albany on Tuesday, May 15, both starting at 5 p.m. On Saturday, May 12, the Lady Warriors host their annual Black Hawk Softball Tournament at Gratiot Park, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
