“It’s fantastic. I’m super excited for them. I couldn’t be any more proud of these girls for the work that they’ve done this season,” said Shullsburg head coach Jennifer Russell. “We knew we could have a good meet today and they came though with a great performance. That’s fulfilling as a coach to have kids who are willing to work hard for you.”
The host Wildcats were second with 37 points, and Iowa-Grant/Highland did not have a full team.
In the boys’ race, SW/CC/B turned in a 22-point performance to win the team title ahead of the Panthers, who finished with 39 points.
Junior Nolan Strang was the lone runner for the Miners ay Monday’s meet. His time and placement were not available at press time.
“I’m proud of the work that Nolan has done this season. It’s not easy to do two sports, especially sports as demanding as football and cross country, but he’s done a good job,” added Russell.
