It’s no surprise that when the coaches from the Six Rivers got together to hand out postseason honors, Potosi got most of the attention following it’s perfect run of 7-0 through the league.
While there were many Chieftains named to this year’s all-conference lists, there were also a handful of players from River Ridge and Cassville who were recognized as well.
This Year’s Six Rivers Coach of the Year was none other than Potosi’s Mark Siegert, who following an undefeated conference run, led the Chieftains to a WIAA Division 7 state runner-up title.
Potosi also had the three top individual honors, as senior quarterback Tim Fritz was named the Offensive Player of the Year, senior defensive end Mitch Langkamp named the Defensive Player of the Year, and senior Tyler Udelhoven named the Lineman of the Year.
On the year, Fritz completed 113-of-196 passing attempts for 1,905 yards, 26 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also rushed for 268 yards and four more TDs on 56 rushing attempts.
Fritz also was named to the first-team defensive squad as a defensive back, and to the second-team offense as a kicker.
Defensively, Fritz had 46 tackle, and as a kicker, averaged 50.4 yards per kick off, and made 54 extra-point kicks.
As the league’s Defensive Player of the Year, Langkamp had 61 total tackles on the year to go along with two interceptions, seven forced fumbles, three recovered fumbles, and two blocked punts.
Langkamp was also named to the first-team offense as an end, where he had a team-high 31 receptions for 489 yards and seven touchdowns.
Joining Fritz and Langkamp on the first-team offensive unit was senior offensive tackle Tyler Udelhoven, as well as senior running back Jase Udelhofen.
Tyler was also named to the first-team defensive squad, finishing with 87 total tackles, three sacks and three fumble recoveries.
Jase Udelhofen ran for a team-high 1,470 yards and 20 touchdowns on 159 carries, for an average of 9.25 yards per carry. He also had six receptions for 122 yards and one more touchdown. Udelhofen also earned a spot on the honorable-mention defensive squad, where he had 86 total tackles and two interceptions as a defensive back.
Earning a spot on this year’s second-team offensive unit were senior end Hunter Leibfried, along with junior guard Keegan Brown and junior specialist Chase Kruser.
Leibfried hauled in 22 receptions for 485 yards and six touchdowns, while Kruser averaged 8.96 per punt return and 20.25 yards per kick return.
Kruser also earned a spot on the second-team defensive squad, where he accounted for 77 total tackles from his outside linebacker position.
Others earning first-team defensive honors from Potosi were senior linebackers Spencer Hawes and Alex Wright.
Hawes finished the year with 111 total tackles, half a sack, and four fumble recoveries, while Wright was in on 128 tackles, one sack, two interceptions and one fumble recovery.
Second-team defensive honors went to Potosi senior defensive back Logan Udelhofen, who had 62 total tackles.
As a team, the Chieftains averaged 260 rushing yards per game and 147 yards passing, while scoring an average of 40.7 points per game.
River Ridge honors
While no one from River Ridge earned first-team offensive or defensive honors, senior running back Joel Mezera and sophomore return specialist Zach Ertz were named to the second-team offensive unit.

Ertz, who averaged 15.1 yards per kick return, and 2.3 yards per punt return, also was named to this year’s defensive honorable-mention squad, for his 53 total tackles, three for a loss, at his defensive back position.
Earning second-team defensive honors as a defensive end, was senior Spencer White, who had 31 total tackles, 10 for a loss, and three fumble recoveries.
Earning a spot on the honorable-mention defensive team was senior linebacker Jeremy Cliff, who had 50 total tackles, nine for a loss, to go along with three fumble recoveries.
The Timberwolves went 0-7 in league play and averaged 194.1 rushing yards per game, to an average of 17.6 passing yards per game.
Cassville honors
After going 1-6 in the Six Rivers conference play, the young Comets of Cassville did not have anyone named to either the first, or second-team offensive or defensive units.
They did, however, have three members earn honorable-mention honors, two on defense, and one on offense.
