After a slow start junior Tyler Udelhvoen and the Potosi defense bottle up River Ridge in Fridays 5913 Six Rivers victory.

POTOSI — After watching the visiting Timberwolves jump out to a 13–0 lead early in the first quarter of last Friday night’s Six Rivers football game, the host Chieftains from Potosi then scored 59 unanswered points to pick up a 59–13 victory and improve to 2–0 on the season.
In a game that featured a pair of lightning delays and didn’t end until 11 p.m., coach Mark Siegert’s squad dominated the Timberwolves in the final three quarters, and finished the game with 521 yards of total offense to River Ridge’s 157.
Junior halfback Teagan Friederick had a career day for the Chieftains, rushing for 231 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries.
Friederick ran for scores of one yard and 51 yards in the second quarter, then started the third quarter off with a 53-yard TD run.
Junior fullback Nathan Friederick scored two TDs for the Chieftains, a 54-yard scamper in the first quarter, and a one-yard plunge in the fourth.
Potosi’s sixth rushing touchdown came from fellow junior Tommy Pluemer, who scored from 38 yards out late in the fourth. On the ground, the Chieftains managed 453 yards and six TDs on 44 attempts.
Potosi quarterback Kyle Kaiser threw for two touchdowns, which included a 23 yarder to Jacob Udelhoven, and a nine-yarder to Riley Hawes, both in the third quarter.
Kaiser completed 5-of-9 passing attempts for 68 yards, two TDs and one interception, while Hawes had four receptions for 45 yards in the game.
River Ridge came out on fire to start the game, getting a quick-hitting 67-yard TD run from senior Zach Ertz. The extra-point kick by Saul Barrita gave the Timberwolves and early 7–0 lead.
Ertz then struck again, this time on defense, picking off a Kaiser pass and returning it 32 yards for the score. The missed extra-point kick left River Ridge leading 13–0.
The game was then delayed for 30 minutes when lightning was first spotted at the 5:07 mark of the first quarter.
The break was just what Potosi needed.
From that point on though, coach Wade Winkers’ River Ridge squad never sniffed the end zone again, and couldn’t do anything to stop the Chieftains from lighting up their side of the scoreboard.
Nate Friederick scored on his 54-yard immediately following the lightning delay.
Four minutes into the second quarter Teagan Friederick scored from a yard out to give Potosi a 15–13 lead. After a Ridge 3-and-out he added a second score on a 51-yard run and the Potosi route was on.
A second, 70-minute lightning delay was called in the third quarter with Potosi holding a 28–13 lead, but this break did nothing to change the momentum. The Chieftains added four more touchdowns to put the game away.
Of River Ridge’s 157 yards of total offense, 142 came on 39 rushing attempts. Zach Ertz led the T-Wolves with 54 yards and one TD on just four carries.
River Ridge quarterback Kirk Martin completed 3-of-5 passing attempts for 15 yards, all of which were completed to Zach Ertz.
With the loss, River Ridge fell to 0–2 in league play, and next hosts Benton/Scales Mound (0-2).
Potosi (2–0) will travel to Cassville (1–1), who is coming off a 20–14 loss to Highland (2–0, 1–0).
