River Ridge survived the rubber match with Potosi and will continue its season in the WIAA volleyball sectionals next weekend.

   Saturday night the Timberwolves rallied to defeat fellow Six Rivers West (SWR) co-champion Chieftains, 25-15, 16-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-11 to earn a date in Thursday's WIAA Division 4 sectional semifinal. River Ridge and Potosi split their regular season series at a game apiece and shared the SRW conference championships. Ridge (21-1 overall) will travel to Boscobel to face another top-seeded team in Wonewoc-Center, which swept SRW third-place finished Highland, 25-23, 25-18, 25-23, in one half of the Onalaska Luther Sectional.

   Hillsboro swept Royall, 25-14, 25-20, 25-11 on Saturday to win its own regional. The Tigers will face Cochrane Fountain City in the other have of the Onalaska Luther Sectional bracket Thursday night at Brookwood.

   In Division 3 Southwestern senior Katelyn Hoppman registered 22 kills and six blocks to lead the Wildcats to a four-set victory over top-ranked Deerfield, 17-25, 26-24, 26-24, 25-23 in a regional final at Deerfield High School. Southwestern will return to Deerfield this Thursday to face another top-seed in Markesan in a Mineral Point sectional semifinal.

   In Division 2, top-seeded Richland Center defeated SWC rival River Valley, 30-28, 27-25, 25-22 to win its own regional and advance to Thursday's sectional semifinals. The Hornets will meet a familiar foe in the sectional semifinals when they will square off with number two seed and fellow SWC co-champion Platteville. The Hillmen outlasted top-seeded Edgerton three games to two. Platteville will travel to Richland Center for Thursday's sectional semifinal. The two teams split their regular season series.
