DARLINGTON – Just seven strokes separated first place from last place at the season opening Darlington Girls’ Golf Quadrangular.
Defending SWAL-SWC champions Southwestern/Cuba City took home team honors shooting a 237 led by senior Bailee Bussan, who carded a 7-over round of 42 to also garner individual medalist honors at the meet.
Lancaster finished four strokes behind the Wildcats with a 241 to take second, followed closely by Mount Horeb at 243 and the host Lady Redbirds at 244.
Junior Kennedy Wagner carded a 54 to lead Darlington on the day. Sophomore Allison Thompson tallied a 58 for the ‘Birds with junior Holly Ray shooting a 65 and sophomore Marissa Gould adding a 67 to complete the team scoring for the hosts.
Darlington hosts the 18-hole Ringen Girls’ Golf Invitational at the Darlington Country Club on Friday, Aug. 18, beginning at 9 a.m.
The Lady Redbirds match against East Dubuque scheduled at the Lacoma Golf Course on Monday, Aug. 21, has been postponed.
The Lady Redbirds will head to the Galena Public Golf Course on Tuesday, Aug. 22, to participate in the Southwestern/Cuba City Meet, starting at 9 a.m.
