IowaGrant junior fullback Cody Rider breaks a long run during Fridays 4221 victory over visiting Fennimore. Rider finished the night with a game--high 119 yards rushing.

MIFFLIN — The Milk Can is staying at Iowa–Grant High School.
Friday night the Panthers scored 20 points in the final quarter to hold off a late Fennimore rally to notch a 42–21 SWAL victory and retain possession of the fabled Milk Can for a fourth straight year.
The Milk Can is a rivalry trophy awarded to the winner of the annual game between the Panthers and Golden Eagles since 1970.
Cody Rider rushed for 119 yards and a pair of second half touchdowns and Dakota Barnes returned a kickoff 80 yards for a score midway though the fourth quarter as Iowa–Grant (5–2, 5–1 SWAL) pulled away.
“We knew going in that they had some speed and were going to try to spread us out,” said I–G head coach Gary Allen. “With the exception of a few missed tackles we played well. We played hard the whole game and kept our focus.”
Fennimore (4–3, 4–2) outgained Iowa–Grant 315–271, but the Panthers forced a pair of turnovers to help secure the win.
Fennimore took an early lead when junior running back Jeff Nedham scored on an 11 yard run. An Ian Streeter to Hartburg conversion pass made it 8–0 midway through the opening quarter.
I–G tied the score early in the second quarter on a Derek Peat 5-yard touchdown run — the first of his three scores on the night. Peat added the two-point conversion to make it 8–8.
The Panthers recovered a Fennimore fumble on the ensuing drive and less than two minutes later Peat scored on a 31–yard run. Rider added the PAT to make it 15–8, a score that stood until the third quarter.
Rider jumped in front of a Streeter pass five minutes into the second half and returned the interception down to the 8-yard line. On the next play he scored to make it 22–8.
Fennimore cut into the deficit with a long scoring drive that was capped by a Streeter 2-yard TD run.
I–G responded with a scoring drive of its own and Rider’s second TD of the night — a 17-yard run — made it 28–14 with 8:54 remaining.
Fennimore once again made it a one-score game with a Streeter to Trenton Knapp 11-yard touchdown pass less than two minutes later, but Barnes returned to ensuing kickoff end the visiting Eagles’ momentous run.
Peat added a 37-yard touchdown run with 2:19 remaining to cap the scoring. The senior quarterback finished the night with 89 yards rushing on 13 carries.
The Panthers will close out the regular season Friday at Riverdale (1–6, 1–5).
