It was a triumphant nonconference meet for Boscobel’s boys and girls Cross Country teams at the home Cross Country Alumni Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 29. Both teams took firsts in team and individual placing against Lancaster, Wisconsin Heights-Barneveld, and Riverdale.

The boy’s Dakota Kauffman put in an impressive finish with a time of 16.57.4, more than half a minute less than the second place finish by Riverdale’s Brian Mathews at 17:33.4.

Mackenzie Kauffman garnered first place for the Bulldog’s girls team with a time of 21:14.1.

“The alumni race went really well,” said coach Skyler Reynolds. “Although the meet was scored and we were happy with how we ran as a whole, the alumni meet is about much more.  We have alumni return to watch and compete, all members of our middle school and high school teams and families kick off the season with a meal after the races. It’s just a great start to the season to have so many people together at our home course.  The Zimpel Family does an incredible job hosting so many people!”

Final results for the two teams are:

• Girls: Mackenzie Kauffman – 1st - 21:14.1; Molly Pegram – 5th - 23:05.1; Abbey Manning – 7th - 23:17.2; Faith Glasbrenner – 8th - 23:33.6; Rachel Davis – 9th - 23:39.6; Leah Wacker – 10th - 23:54.2; and Sydney Haines – 21st - 27:16.2

• Boys: Dakota Kauffman – 1st - 16:57.4; Jordan Molzof – 4th - 18:09.1; Seth Laxton – 5th - 18:56.1; Noah Toye – 7th - 19:32.3; Dakota Kull – 12th - 20:01.1; Jack Latham – 15th - 20:36.5; and Tyler Waterman – 16th - 20:46.9.

The teams will next compete in the Verona varsity invitational on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 9 a.m.
