Galvan leads Lancaster golfers to early season success
Lancaster's Alexis Galvan shot a 45 to win medalist honors and lead the Arrows to the team title at last Friday's for-team Darlington quadrangular golf meet.

          The Lancaster girls’ golf team started their season on Monday, Aug. 10, with the first day of practice.

     Just three days later, the Flying Arrows were competing in their first meet of the season at the Reedsburg Country Club.

     Last Thursday, coach Jeff Pross and his varsity five participated in a two-person best-ball scramble hosted by Reedsburg.

     The duo of Lancaster seniors Alexis Galvan and Heidi Marcue finished as the top pair, shooting a nine-over-par round of 81.

     Finishing 10th was the duo of senior Brianna Marcue and junior Brandi Taylor, who finished with an 89, while freshman Lindsey Wolf and junior Brooke Marcue shot a 92.

     On the following Friday, Lancaster participated in a quadrangular meet held at the Darlington Golf & Country Club, where they finished first with a team score of 190.

     The tri-op of Southwestern/Benton/Cuba City placed second with a 193, while the host Redbirds shot a 206 and Mount Horeb a 241.

     Galvan shot a 10-over-par round of 45 on the par-35 course to lead Lancasater and earn meadlist honors.

     Boorke Marcue chippein a 47, while Heidi Marcue shot a 49, Taylor a 49 and Brianna Marcue a 53.

     This Monday, the Flying Arrows traveled to Stoughton for a four-person scramble, which they tied for third out of 14 teams, shooting a 67 on the par 71 course.

     Monona Grove won the team title with a 56, while Oregon was secone with a 64.

    Friday, Lancaster will be back at Darlington, before competing at Cole Arces in Cuba City on Tuesday.
