Katie Owen, daughter of Mary and Gary Owen of Shullsburg, and Gabriel King, son of Louie King of Cut Off, La., and Adele King Arms and Steve Arms of New Orleans, La., were united in marriage Feb. 23, 2012, with a beach ceremony in the Dominican Republic. The groom’s daughter, Caroline King, was part of the ceremony to unite the family and a reception was held afterwards on resort grounds for those family and friends in attendance. A larger reception will be held Saturday, April 21, at the couple’s home in New Orleans.
The bride is a 1999 Shullsburg High School graduate and a University of Wisconsin-Platteville graduate with a bachelor of science degree in finance. The bride is employed as an Internal Auditor for CUNA Mutual Group out of Madison and works remotely from New Orleans. The groom is a 1996 graduate from South Lafourche High School in Galliano, La., and has an associate’s degree in fire science from Louisiana State University. He has been employed with the New Orleans Fire Department since 2004. The couple currently resides in New Orleans, La.
