The United Way of Platteville has kicked off its 2014 campaign.
Many board members, agency representatives and volunteers marched in the Dairy Days Parade to signal the start.
The 2014 goal has been set at $70,000 and to date the campaign has received about $20,000 in donations.
“We are in the midst of another challenging campaign of trying to support 11 local non-profit agencies that have applied for funding because they are experiencing the effects of higher operational costs and declining funding sources,” said Brenda Denn of the United Way. “With donations from local businesses and the community, we are optimistic that we can once again fund these agencies that are making a difference in the lives of your friends and neighbors with disabilities, youth leadership development, safe shelter, food and clothing, and emergency disaster assistance.”
