The Grant County Farm Service Agency is hosting an informational meeting Thursday, May 23 and Wednesday, May 29 from 9 to 11 a.m. for landowners and producers interested in the Conservation Reserve Program general signup.

The meetings will take place at the USDA Service Center at 150 W. Alona Lane in Lancaster. The meetings will include details about what CRP is, what it can offer to landowners who participate and answer any additional questions about the program.

During the signup period, which takes place through June 14, producers and landowners may offer eligible land for CRP’s competitive general signup at their FSA office.

Land currently not enrolled in CRP may be offered in this signup provided all eligibility requirements are met. Additionally, current CRP participants with contracts expiring on Sept. 30 may make new contract offers. Contracts awarded under this signup are scheduled to become effective Oct. 1.

Persons with disabilities who require accommodations to attend or participate in the meeting should contact the state FSA Office, (608) 662-4422 ext. 100, or Federal Relay Service, 1-800-877-8339, susan.hunter@wi.usda.gov, as soon as possible.
