Lamers Bus Lines bought out the school bus service portion of the business from Al’s Trucking in Darlington on Tuesday, July 15.
Jason Davis, a representative from Lamers, said that the transition will be very smooth, as Lamers purchased the actual school buses from the Darlington business and will continue to provide busing services to the Darlington School District.
“The public will not notice much change, besides the name on the buses,” said Davis. “The management is staying the same and the drivers are staying the same,” he added.
Lamers will be set up in the former location of Al’s Trucking at 123 E. River St. in Darlington and can be reached at 776-4060.
Davis explained that Lamers will also be offering charter services for weddings, Brewer games and bachelor/bachelorette parties. More information on the services that Lamers offers can be found at their website at www.golamers.com.
Darlington will not be losing Al’s Trucking completely, however, as they will still be offering charter bus, dump trucks and crane services to the area.
Al’s Trucking will be moving their office location to 15986 Neilson Ln. in Darlington and their new number is 608-482-0614.
According to Irving Ruef, who operates Al’s Trucking with his father Harold, they decided to get out of the school bus service for economic reasons, however Harold will be working with Lamers for about a year to ease the transition.
