On Aug. 26 at 2:54 p.m. the sheriff's department was notified that a 1976 Cessna T210 was missing from the Platteville Municipal Airport. The airplane has tail number N732QG and is described as red/white/black. It was stolen from the airport sometime after Aug. 1.
As of Friday, there was no information in regard to the theft. According to Grant County Sheriff Keith Govier, at this point it is the responsibility of the sheriff's department to conduct the investigation which is on-going. "There are no indicators to believe that this theft is nothing more than an airplane theft, however we have notified the FBI, FAA and Homeland Security," said Govier.
With the 10th anniversary of 9/11 approaching, Govier was asked if that may have been a factor in the theft. "There is no other ‘terrorist alert' type activity in the area to give an indication that it might be related to some ‘911 anniversary' type event," he said.
Anyone with information concerning this theft is asked to contact the Grant County Sheriff's Department or Crime Stoppers.
