A 29-year-old Viroqua woman was found unconscious next to a bicycle on the shoulder of County C in Crawford County during the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 17.

Lucas Kradle, 25, Soldiers Grove, and Alex Stanton, 26, Gays Mills, were walking down C about 1.4 miles west of County B, when they came across Nicole Repinski lying next to her wrecked bicycle at 51203 County Road C. Both men returned to an address on Helgerson Hill Road and called the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department at 2:50 a.m. The men had decided to search for Repinski, when after visiting the residence she had left on her bicycle and failed to return, according to the sheriff’s department.

Ocooch Mountain Rescue and a responding Crawford County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived at the scene and found Repinski unconscious and unresponsive tangled in her bicycle. Repinski was transported to Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. She was later transported to Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse due to severe injuries to her head, neck and back.

Crawford County Sheriff Dale McCullick said the injuries were similar to what might occur in a motorcycle accident. The crash occurred in a curve on a steep hill near 51203 County Road C.

Repinksi remained in serious condition at Gundersen Lutheran this week. She was in an induced coma because of her head injuries and had not regained consciousness.

The accident remains under investigation, according to the sheriff’s department.  If anyone has information about this accident please contact the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department at 608-326-0241 or Crawford County Crime Stoppers at 1-866-779-7297.
