Vernon County Crime Stoppers and the Viroqua Police Department are asking the public’s help in solving recent acts of theft and vandalism.

Sometime between June 27 at about 8 p.m. and June 28 at about 7:30 a.m,, a theft and damage was done to American flags at two separate locations within the City of Viroqua.

One location was the Viroqua Cemetery, located at 430 E Hickory St.  Somebody stole the 5’x8” American flag.

The other location was at the National Guard Armory, located at 600 Dyson St.  Somebody put the American flag upside down on the flag pole and also spray-painted on the flag.

Another act of vandalism occurred during the evening hours of July 4 or early morning hours of July 5. A billboard on the south side of Viroqua along US Hwy. 14 was vandalized.  The word “abortion” was spray-painted in white causing the word to be covered up.  It was replaced with a yellow “M” like the “golden arches” logo of the McDonald’s restaurant chain.

These cases need to be solved.  It is hoped that details may cause someone to remember and report what they know about the person or persons involved.  Callers may be eligible for cash rewards up to $1,000 and will remain confidential.
