According to a release from Grant County Sheriff Nate Dreckman, the Nov. 21 crash that killed 15 year old Makayla Hore of Lancaster, has led to the recommendation of charges being filed against the driver in that accident.

The next step in the investigation has resulted in charges being referred to the Grant County District Attorney’s office on the driver of the vehicle, 16 year old Morgan Hoehne of Lancaster. Based on physical evidence at the scene of the crash, statements from persons involved and witnesses, it appears speed was the contributing factor to the crash. It has also been determined that all occupants in the vehicle were restrained in seatbelts.

As part of the ongoing investigation, the Wisconsin State Patrol is in the process of reconstructing the crash and will provide additional information at a later date.

The District Attorney’s Office will receive reports from the Grant County Sheriff’s Department recommending the following charges:

Homicide by Negligent Use of Motor Vehicle – violation of Wisconsin Statute 940.10(1)

Three (3) counts of Reckless Driving Causing Great Bodily Harm – violation of Wisconsin Statute 364.62(4)

All charges are felony charges. Additional traffic violations will be issued.
