Three Platteville people and a 17-year-old were arrested after an alleged Dubuque car theft and a shooting incident in downtown Platteville Friday.
Dillon Joe Potts, 18, 906 W. Madison St., faces two counts of felony bail jumping, one count of driving or operating a vehicle without owner consent, and one count of operating a vehicle without owner consent — passenger.
Danny C. Mabra, 21, 66 E. Main St. #3, faces two counts of operating a vehicle without the owner's consent.
A preliminary hearing on Potts’ and Mabra’s charges will be held in Grant County Circuit Court in Lancaster Tuesday at 2 p.m.
Brandi L. Wentz, 27, 66 E. Main St. #3, faces charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Wentz made her initial appearance in Grant County Circuit Court Monday afternoon, and will be arraigned on the charges May 6 at 10:30 a.m.
Terran M. Wilkinson, 17, 685 N. Water St., has been charged with two counts of operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent. Wilkinson made his initial appearance Tuesday. His preliminary hearing is set for Tuesday at 2 p.m.
Police arrested three people after a complaint about shots fired into the windows at Kopp McKichan Geyer Skemp, 44 E. Main St., Friday around 8:13 a.m. The caller to police reported the shots were coming from an apartment across the street.
Police found a BB gun inside the apartment across the street.
Police found other businesses that had been damaged by what appeared to be BB gun shots. Some businesses reported the damage to police, and other damage was found by officers, police said.
While police were investigating the shooting, officers discovered a stolen van in a nearby parking lot, which was reported stolen Thursday night by Dubuque police. A search of one of the suspects revealed a key that belonged to the van, police said.
Dubuque police found a car that had been stolen from Platteville, but not yet reported to police, in Dubuque near where the van was stolen. Police said the suspects found the car with the keys in it, drove it to Dubuque, but couldn't get it started after they stopped in Dubuque. The suspects left the stolen car in Dubuque and took the stolen van back to Platteville, according to Platteville police.
Potts and Ryne D. Stanko, 20, Fennimore, face four charges of burglary, one count of felony damage to property, three counts of criminal damage to property, and three counts of misdemeanor theft in connection with a series of break-ins and thefts in the Fennimore area.
A status conference on Potts’ Fennimore charges is set for April 23 at 11 a.m. The trial on the charges is scheduled for May 7.
Potts faces an additional charge of felony bail jumping, with the status conference on that charge also April 23. Potts pleaded not guilty to the charge Dec. 12.
A status conference on Stanko’s charges is scheduled for today at 2 p.m.
Robert Goodman, 18, Fennimore, faces three counts of burglary, three counts of criminal damage to property, and two counts of theft. Goodman’s status conference is set for April 23 at 8:30 a.m., with jury selection and trial scheduled for May 14.
The charges against Potts, Stanko and Goodman stem from reports of a theft of a safe from Liberty Mutual Insurance in Stitzer Nov. 28, 2011, theft and vandalism at Fennimore High School Dec. 9, 2011, burglaries to cabins on Castle Rock Creek Road in the Town of Castle Rock in early January 2012, and a burglary at Hickory Grove Golf Course July 24, 2012.
Stanko faces six additional counts of misdemeanor theft for a series of thefts between April 18 and Aug. 18, and an additional count of criminal damage to property for an incident April 28, according to court records. A status conference on the theft charges is scheduled for Tuesday at 10 a.m., and a status conference on the criminal damage charge charge is scheduled for May 1 at 2:30 p.m.
