A man from Mexico was arrested by federal immigration authorities in Patch Grove Thursday.

Grant County sheriff’s deputies stopped a car whose driver claimed to be Diego Garcia Duran, 31, Shullsburg, around 12:30 p.m. A driver’s license check discovered a federal nationwide material-witness warrant for Albino Garcia Duran.

The driver told sheriff’s deputies he was not Albino Garcia Duran and claimed that Albino Garcia Duran was living in Mexico. Upon further investigation, however, a mugshot sent to deputies by the Department of Homeland Security proved that the driver was in fact Albino Garcia Duran, according to the sheriff’s department.

Albino Garcia Duran was taken to the Grant County Jail, where agents from federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement took custody of him.
