Platteville police arrested a man in connection with an indecent exposure incident on the Rountree Branch Trail.

Ashley Javon Toney, 24, faces charges of lewd and lascivious behavior — exposure and resisting or obstructing an officer.

Toney made his first appearance in Grant County Circuit Court in Lancaster Tuesday. He is free on a $1,000 signature bond. He will be arraigned on the charges June 27.

According to police, a 21-year-old woman was jogging on the trail when she witnessed Toney with his genitals exposed appearing to be engaged in a sexual act in front of her on the trail Monday. Toney was arrested after he lied about his identity, police said. 

Toney was found not guilty of a lewd and lascivious behavior charge after a jury trial June 1 for an incident at the Platteville Public Library April 16, according to court records and police.

Toney is on the State of Indiana Sex and Violent Offender Registry through 2023, according to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
