Three people are being cited for retail thefts that took place Saturday.

Vanessa Germany, 42, Darlington, was cited for a theft at Dollar General in Cuba City. Platteville police will be issuing citations to Earl Blackmon, 18, Darlington, and a 17-year-old Milwaukee male for retail theft from Walmart and Kmart in Platteville, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

The first theft was reported at Dollar General Saturday around 10:55 a.m., according to the Sheriff’s Office. The store manager told Grant County deputies that three adults left the store with full bags without paying for anything.

The manager was able to read the vehicle’s license plate. Almost three hours later, a sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle on Wisconsin 80/81 near Platteville Municipal Airport. Germany and the driver, Larry Crawford, 56, Darlington, admitted being involved in the thefts, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The deputy located several open packages for BB guns and an Air-Soft gun in the vehicle that were likely stolen from a store in Platteville. Blackmon and the 17-year-old admitted taking the guns from Walmart and Kmart, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Crawford and Germany identified another person, Donna Braxton, 57, Madison, who was no longer in the vehicle, as being involved in the thefts.

UW–Platteville police assisted the Sheriff’s Office in the traffic stop.
